MY STORY

My why:  I witnessed my older sister go through 6 back surgeries (the result of first surgery fail).  Pre-surgery she had tried everything and ultimately her first back surgery failed. She tried everything except chiropractic.  I come from a very medical family and chiropractic was not something we “believed in”.

After one of her last surgeries, I will never forget the day we pulled into Kmart and parked in the handicapped section.  I was 16 and she was 21. As we were walking into the store a lady yelled to us “who do you think you kids are parking in a handicapped spot?”  What this lady couldn’t see was my sister was in excruciating pain and was wearing a body cast under her clothes. I was with her because she needed some new comfy clothes and I had to help her in the dressing room because she couldn’t lift or bend to try these clothes on.  I will never forget this day as it was at that exact moment I told my sister Amy I was going to help people like her…people who had pain others couldn’t see. If you wear a cast that people can see, people empathize with you; but that “invisible” pain is what I like to help.

Fast forward to me turning 18; I sought out chiropractic against *gasp* my parents’ wishes.  Immediately, I experienced relief from chronic headaches and sinus troubles. I became a regular patient and was fascinated by the process. Since chiropractic changed my life for the better, it became my passion and eventually my profession.   And thankfully my whole family is now under chiropractic care!

WHO I LIKE TO WORK WITH

Though I enjoy helping everyone who comes to see me, I feel a special connection to treating headache and migraine sufferers, people with stiff neck and shoulders, and those with sinus and ear infections, as those ailments were what led me to seek chiropractic care in the first place. I also work a great deal with post-fusion patients. Ultimately my sister had a 3-level fusion. Due to this personal experience, I have made it a point to equip myself with a unique skill set that allows me to help patients with spinal fusions and work in conjunction with surgeons.

My staff and I continue to learn about treating all types of cases, including children and pregnant women. I have certifications by the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) for prenatal and pediatric chiropractic, as well. I sincerely believe the saying, “It’s better to grow healthy kids than to fix injured adults!”

I’ve helped so many people who are recovering from accidents, dealing with stress, going through pregnancy, or simply experiencing low back pain. I am committed to the wellness aspect of my profession and enjoy working with people for preventative care and overall health!

Due to my personal experience with autoimmune disorders, I am interested in researching the most up-to-date information to combat their effects.

MY JOURNEY

After getting my undergraduate degree at Central Michigan University, I completed my chiropractic training at Palmer College of Chiropractic and started a practice in Lexington, Kentucky.

I wound up having three offices in the Lexington Area, where I relied mainly on word-of-mouth referrals, and thanks to all the wonderful people who have trusted me with guiding them to and through care, I spent 11 years taking care of Central Kentucky’s chiropractic needs.  It’s been a humbling and exciting journey, and I'm excited to bring the same approach to Chiropractic here in Milwaukee where I'm closer to my family.

For fun:  I enjoy running, yoga, antiquing, bringing old spaces back to their former glory, spending time with my husband, son, and 2 Boston terriers. I also enjoy camping and being outdoors. We also like to rescue dogs.

MY MISSION

My personal experience is what lead me to my office mission:  We know it’s not just your back or neck pain you want help with…some ailment is preventing you from doing something or maybe making you exhausted at the end of the day from it. Maybe you feel good you just want to be better. We don’t want you to just be living, you want you to be ALIVE.  Be it you want help to be able to pick up your child or grandchild, run or run faster, have energy after a day of work, sleep through the night. We want to help you with this and that is why my mission statement of the office is “Restoring health to experience life.” I will be moving and grooving when I am 70; will you?  When you walk through our doors, you’re beginning a journey to either get back to your old self or creating a whole new you!
